Evidence-based Nutrition strategies That Work
I’ve spent over 20 years in Hong Kong working in the performance and fitness space, coaching everyone from Olympic medallists to everyday athletes who want to train hard, stay strong, and keep progressing as they get older.
My background spans CrossFit, endurance, strength, and group training, including time as a CrossFit Level 1 instructor, NASM and ACE certified personal trainer, and coach across bootcamps, spin, and Pilates-based conditioning. That experience taught me one thing early on: performance isn’t just about training harder — it’s about fuelling and recovering smarter.
After returning to the UK and deepening my formal education in evidence-based nutrition, my focus shifted toward helping hybrid athletes aged 35–55 support demanding training schedules without burnout, recurring injuries, or long-term health trade-offs.
Today, I combine decades of real-world coaching experience with modern performance nutrition to help athletes fuel training, recover faster, optimise body composition, and perform at a high level for the long term.

Performance Roots: Indoor Cycling & Endurance Training
I spent over 21 years coaching indoor cycling, delivering high-intensity, performance-focused sessions to a wide range of athletes — from recreational riders and tri-athletes to elite competitors.
During my time coaching in Hong Kong, my classes attracted athletes from multiple disciplines, including Wong Kam Po, whose commitment to structured training and precision left a lasting impression on how I approach performance.
Coaching thousands of sessions taught me how athletes respond to volume, intensity, fatigue, and recovery in the real world — not just on paper. It was also where I first saw how profoundly nutrition, fueling timing, and recovery strategies influence performance, consistency, and long-term resilience.
That experience still underpins how I work with hybrid athletes today: training hard, recovering well, and performing consistently over time.
Strength, Conditioning & Hybrid Training
Alongside endurance coaching, I spent many years working in strength and conditioning–based environments, including CrossFit, bootcamps, and gym-based performance programmes.
As a CrossFit Level 1 instructor and NASM- and ACE-certified personal trainer, I coached athletes across strength, conditioning, and mixed-modal training — often balancing heavy lifts, high-intensity conditioning, and repeat training sessions within the same week. I also loved competing in the Cross Fit open!
Bootcamps and group-based strength training environments are where theory meets reality. Coaching in these settings gave me first-hand insight into how fatigue accumulates, how quickly under-fuelling impacts performance, and why recovery and intelligent nutrition become even more critical as athletes move beyond their 30s.
That experience now directly informs my work in performance nutrition — helping hybrid athletes fuel demanding training schedules, recover between sessions, and maintain strength and resilience over the long term.
